Race 2 is why i love this racing series. It was another 125km/39 lap race and it was a nail biter to the end. See the track layout above. Turn 8 is amazing. They reach speeds up to 240 km/h (150 mph) where they tap the brake entering the turn. Then they get so close to the wall.
For starters Chaz Mostert got pole.
With Jamie 2nd, McLaughlin 3rd and Courtney 4th. Courtney got a a tremendous start:
Of course being Clipsal Turn 8 would eventually bite and Chris Pither had a good whack:
That 2nd shunt did some real damage to the car. Chris was fine though.
After the restart Mostert was still leading but Courtney being the king of Clipsal the past 2 years got by here. He went from 1st to 3rd in a heartbeat:
Tander on the other hand was puttering too slowly and was whacked by Blanchard:
Courtney continued to lead the race with Whincup then Mostert. But Courtney cut Turn 1 way too close:
Courtney was able to hold on and look how close they got to the wall here on Turn 8. Amazing:
Here’s a screenshot. Remember they’re going about 240 km/h (150 mph) here and millimeters away from the wall. Unreal.
Jamie tried but eventually “Frank the Tank” Courtney prevailed and won Race 2:
Here are the highlights and top 10 finishers:
Cheers, Race 3 was very dramatic and unexpected, more on that later:
