Damn Aussies/Kiwis... Back at it again with the V8's!!!. Yes everyone they’re back for 2016. Some changes for 2016:

  • Erebus switched to Holdens from Mercerdes Benz AMG55's.
  • DJR/Penske has a second car with Fabian Coulthard.
  • SVG (Gizzy) moved to Red Bull Australia
  • Craig Lowndes now runs with Caltex sponsorship and shares a boom with Tekno Autosports (Also Tekno gets Will Davison behind the wheel).

As per usual they open in Adelaide for the Clipsal 500. Race 1 & 2 are 125km (78 miles) 39 lap races. In Race 1 they ran with the Dunlop soft tyres. First time ever for the Clipsal 500.

Scotty Pye for DJR/Penske got the surprise pole for Race 1.

But he bogged the start and Champion Jamie Whincup quickly got by and was off.

Jamie dominated the first half of the race until a Safety car was called out due to Tim Slade going off on Turn 9 and unable to engage reverse.

Teams shuffled thru with pit stops, front runners went with 4 tires and some fuel. After the safety car came back in (Slade wasn’t allowed to rejoin the race). Jamie had a ripper start with Courtney 2nd and Gizzy 3rd with Scotty McLaughlin 4th. They pretty much ran that way thru the 2nd half.

As it wrapped up Jamie ran a flawless race and claimed victory. Here’s the results of the top ten:

Race 2 was about 2 hours later and it was awesome, i’ll post on that later on tonight.

Race 3 will be 12:30 am EST, 78 laps 250km. Can’t wait.
